Chase sequence analysis

This clip is showing a chasing sequence. The chase starts at 3.44 - 4.20 .
The chase sequence shows, a long shot at the beginning, showing georgia's body whilst robby is running towards her. It is then followed by a close up of georgia's face whilst she is turning to face robby.  There is then a medium close up of robby .... and then the small conversation they have between each other is a shot reverse shot. Towards the end of the conversation, there is a sound bridge and then it cuts into the next scene. In this scene there is incidental music, and it begins with a Medium long shot of Tom running along playing catch with the rugby ball. Then it cuts to jaz sitting on the side of the water fountain which is a medium close up. The cat is next shown in a close up, and a small diegetic sound is there although i think that there is some sound effect added on top since the cats noise is louder and doesn't necessarily sound exactly like a cat would in this situation. There is then a side on following shot of the cat running away as it is pulling jazz off the side of the fountain.  We next see another following shot side on of the cat and a dog which shows that one is chasing the other. After that we see tom running towards the camera at a low angle, and then cuts into the cat chasing the dog again, and the camera is at the same level as the cat and dog. There is loads of sound effect whilst they are chasing each other, mostly of the cat.

Shot list

This sequence of clips shows many different types of camera work and styles. Sam and I each did a version of the style. We have recently looked at many other clips from films etc to get to know different camera angles, styles and techniques, after becoming familiar with a few different types, we were asked to make a short clip showing each one individually. Some we struggled with more then others, some were not extremely perfect, but this is a rough guide of some styles and techniques you can use. Enjoy

Continuity editing

continuity edit is where a style of edit where for example, a person is walking through a door, etc, and as they keep walking through etc, a relatively unnoticeable cut is made, show the person from a different perspective. although the audience is not disrupted or confused by the change of placement of the camera. The aim of this clip was to show different types of continuity edits, keeping to the 180 degree rule, and attempting to keep the shots as smooth as possible. There a a few mistakes which my group did not realise during filming. But apart from that there are many small short and smooth cuts showing a continuity edit. Enjoy!
